Lyngen Scenics

So. One way flight to Tromso? Check. Crashing on a friends couch? Check. Job? Nope. Plans? Hike up, ski down, take photos. Life? It's simple.

I've never been more impressed by how cool the mountains around here are. Massive and aesthetic lines extend all the way down to the ocean. Cornices casually hang over cliff bands that drop into the sea. This is the first place I've ever enjoyed the uphill as much as the downhill. Some of the most memorable turns I've made so far have been in mellow terrain, because I can look around as I ski towards the ocean. If only pictures could do this place justice.

Stability in the area has been "look don't touch" since I arrived. There have only been about 72 hours of fully clear weather in the past week and a half, so the snow pack is slowly healing. Emphasis is on slowly. In the meantime, thigh deep powder down to the water will have to do.
